It comes every year in the chaitra mahina. Just like Parsi people have their parsi new year so,Maharastrians have their new year as well.
1.why is gudipadwa celebrated?
Lord Rama had been sent to vanvas for 14 years so when he was returning home people there took bamboo and all the things out of the house and placed the gudi and decorated the houses with tornas in order to welcome lord Rama. so guys this is why gudi padwa is celebrated.
2.Why is gudipadwa considered as best muhurta to do things?
As gudi padwa comes in the summer season there is an ancient ritual which is followed by people in the current era as well i.e people eat lemon leaves with jaggery.
The ladies in the houses cook mouth watering dishes such as Shreekhanda-Puri ,varan bhaat ,kanda bhaji etc.
This gudi is placed outside the house in the window or gallery .All the members of the family gather toghether to do Puja of the gudi and take blessings of God.so last but not the least Gudi padwa is celebrated by all the Maharashtrians with joy and triump.
